Specializing in Canadian hand-made
barnwood picture frames ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ |
|
We started making Barnwood Frames in the mid 1990s. These first frames were made for family and friends and for special occasions. Jack has always loved working with wood and by using the local rustic barnwood, found in our area, it was a natural match for Jack and his interest in woodworking.
Our earlier Barnwood Frames were slightly
heavier than the frames you will see on this site. As every piece of
barnwood is different from the next, Jack gradually came to understand the
challenges of making the very best out of these fine, weathered and
beautiful boards. In the initial stages we didn't plane the back of
this lumber. Our techniques developed over the years and we are now able to
make more efficient use of these "hard to come by" boards, working hard to
ensure that each of our Barnwood Frames employs the finest and most unique
parts of our wood. |
All of our Barnwood frames are crafted to the highest quality and you will never find another frame the same as the one you buy. They are all unique. Each board will show the years of weathering from their exposure to the extreme weather of the prairies.
With one of our Barnwood
Frames, you will be investing in a piece of rural history, from a time when
the prairie pioneers built these fine and majestic barns that silhouetted
our horizons. When you look at one of our frames you will
be glancing into the past and a chance to imagine a world far apart from the
one we share now. |
In case you are wondering, we never remove boards from happy and healthy barns. Instead we find old, fallen down, barns and yards or reclaim boards that will soon be demolished or burned. This is recycling in its truest form. At Oakridge Country Collections, Barnwood Frames are our business. We take pride in the quality of our workmanship and the beauty of each frame. |
